Festival for the Future returns for sixth year
The University of Lincoln’s Festival for the Future, its award-winning sustainability festival, will return from 2 to 7 November 2026. The week of events focuses on climate action, nature and community, and brings together staff, students, residents, businesses, artists and community organisations.
Now in its sixth year, the Festival, formerly known as the Climate Action Festival, encourages people to explore how positive action at a local level can contribute to a more sustainable future. This year’s theme, ‘Hope for the Future’, will be explored through a programme of activities spanning Climate Education, Nature Positive, and Culture and Community.
The Festival has grown significantly since its launch in 2021 and has been recognised nationally and internationally for its impact. It won a Green Gown Award in the Creating Impact category and was subsequently recognised at the international awards, celebrating its success in connecting sustainability research, education and community action.

Throughout the week, visitors will be able to take part in a range of events, including an art exhibition, a sustainability showcase, film screenings, clothing swaps, nature and educational workshops, and guided nature walks.
Claire Lea, Sustainability Manager at the University of Lincoln, said: “With events hosted across the University campus and throughout the city, there’s something for everyone.
This year’s theme, Hope for the Future, encourages us to come together, share ideas, celebrate positive action and explore how we can all help shape a more sustainable future.”

Organisers are also inviting individuals, community groups, businesses and organisations from across Lincolnshire to contribute to a digital campaign raising awareness of climate and nature action happening across the city and beyond.
The Festival runs from 2 to 7 November 2026, with events across the University campus and throughout the city. Many events are free to attend and open to the public, and the full programme and booking information are at lncn.ac/caf.
